Robert's Leap

It turns out that I too am taking a Leap for PM. Slightly to my surprise, the notion that the relationship counselling that Eddie Mair and I have been receiving should be broadcast live to the nation, well that appears to have become a reality.

They are calling it co-presenting the PM programme. But they can’t be serious about that: I have never in my life presented a radio programme; I have had no training or been given any proper advice; and am already baffled by the very basic electronic technology for writing scripts and timing the programme.

So it is going to be something of an adventure. And I can only assume it is being allowed to happen because the BBC’s funding is secure for a few more years yet, whatever I do (well almost).

From the little I can decipher from the mysterious computer schedule, it will be a lively show â€" so long as I stick to time (I am famous for doing that, as you know).

I am particularly looking forward to the item on the latest attempt by the European Central Bank to stave off the collapse of the Eurozone banking system. I have promised not to interview myself.
