Friday's PM Newsletter

Hello.

The cheek of it. Admittedly yesterday's newsletter had so many errors in it, it was like an explosion in a Scrabble factory. That was all my fault. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. But did Marion Walton really have to write this?:

"Dear Mr Mair
I caught your comment about difficulty with spelling on your newsletter. Could I volunteer some child labour? My daughter Maya, 11 is in charge of spell checking the school intranet because of the (very lovely) Heads occasional difficulty with the same. Maya is a literacy whizz and has been missing presumed in a book since 5. If you think she could help please do let us know.

Best wishes

Marion Walton"

Thank you Marion. Given my track record, it would be churlish to whine about the lack of apostrophe in the word Heads, but your point is well made.

WHO IS THE MYSTERY VOICE INTRODUCING TONIGHT'S "PREVIOUSLY ON PM"?

We've had Larry King, but tonight a brand new voice will say the coveted words "Previously on PM". You will have only one chance in the programme to hear him. He's very famous. Perhaps you saw him on TV over Christmas?

Elsewhere in the programme, Sir Dr Professor Robin Lustig from The World Tonight will report for PM from Cairo. We'll have a think about what Scotland's currency might be should it become independent and have a good gander at the government's latest thinking on child benefit.

See you at 5,

Eric Muir
